Planning a wedding for a venue the is primarily used as an indoor space that has no pretty gardens or private outside space could be a little daunting for some photographers. Especially when the days are short and there’s none too much daylight. This shoot shows what can potentially be achieved when even the darkest rainy days hits. Cutlers Hall is right in the middle of Sheffield, and on the day we did this it rained hard all day. It’s been lavishly styled with organisation from Once Upon A Wedding girls Laura and Kym, and a full list of suppliers is at the base of this post, but take a good look through, as there are some great ideas for inspiration.

It’s great to be involved in a styled shoot. Much of the pressure that normally comes with the timescale in a wedding is off, so I get the chance to spend more time stretching creativity and finding alternative ways to shoot. You’ll note that my choice of lighting is rich with warm colours, and this is often how I manage much of my evenings when I’m working on couple shoots during weddings. I’m also really fond of reflections, and reflective surfaces, so you’ll often find me picking up random objects to add a little creative extra to what might be an otherwise plain image. It was a fun day, and whilst I was involved with two fabulous looking girls (Audrey and Rosie), neither are professional models, so don’t think for a minute that you can’t expect something at least similar for some of your own wedding pictures if you chose this or a similar venue.
