Wedding Albums

You would think that having a father as a professional photographer, my parents would have had an amazing wedding album, right? Wrong! In fact, my parents never even had a wedding album but merely a few, simple pictures which used to reside in plastic tumbler style boxes that I would occasionally pick up and look through as a child. As the years went by, the vast and disorderly archive that is my father’s collection of photographs (!) was regularly trawled through but little more than a handful of images from the wedding were ever recovered or found.

In my opinion, wedding albums are a way of keeping that one, very special day safe. No one will ever mistakenly throw it away when you move house or when you get the urge to clear out the house of chinz because as soon as you or another person picks it up, you look inside, slowly turn the pages, smile (maybe shed a little tear) and follow the story of your wedding day all over again, as if for the first time.

Indeed, high quality and well designed wedding albums make the experience of looking through photographs more of an occasion than merely just viewing them on the screen of a tablet or computer. It’s possible to touch an album, ask questions and understand more of a wedding day. As children, I suspect we all looked through old photographs and albums – they are like a visual glue that can bond us to our parents, their pasts, their friends and wonderful memories.

I think it’s really important to offer high quality albums which offer a choice of finishes and styles to suit a couple’s wedding day and individual tastes. My fine art photo book style albums have a choice of either leather, linen or photo style covers and start from £500 (12 x 8.5 inch Linen covered photographic paper with 50 pages/25 spreads) and a choice of leather covers and parent duplicates can be added depending on your budget and requirements.

Pam Bowley - Totally agreed Ben with having a photo album. There is something special in sitting down with family and friends in years to come reliving the memory’s. Imagine if we have our great great grandparents wedding albums!!.
