As a photographer based in Derbyshire I’m lucky to have one of the best national parks on my doorstep. Buxton is less than an hours travel for me, taking routes through either Ashbourne or Matlock that are gateways into the Peak District. The Derbyshire countryside that I’m blessed with has an inexhaustible supply of stunning locations for photography, and it seems to me that there’s a new fabulous wedding venue opening almost every few months! This then brings me to Beltonville Farm, a fantastic venue for the type of couple that are planning a wedding that’s a little more personal than a typical traditional managed venue.
Having started their wedding preparations at two different venues Laura and Daniel came together for their wedding ceremony at The Pavilion Gardens in Buxton. Doubling as a public space this stunning setting is also a terrific place for a legal ceremony. A genuinely emotional Daniel greeted Laura to exchange vows. Once the official registry was signed the newlyweds allowed guests to head outside and enjoy the last of what summer had to offer and prepare for confetti, champagne and canapes. After a couple of hours enjoying a few laps on the small gauge railway and some family group photos (not obligatory but something that most couples want) it was time to move on. Laura and Daniel jumped into the fab vintage VW Bus from Love Bus In The Peak and headed over to Beltonville.
The three of us explored the fantastic local landscape with views across the peak district whilst we did some wedding portraits, Laura’s dress flowing in the late summer breeze. After not too long we headed inside to be greeted by a cheering crowd of wedding guests welcoming in the new Mrs and Mrs. It seems that wedding wedding games have evolved a little recently and a new addition I’ve seen is Ballz Up, an unusual catch the ball arrangement involving thrusting and grunting (best to scroll through the pictures to understand that one…). During the speeches there was the most epic rainstorm that stopped a sparkler plan but one last confetti canon had been saved to make a glorious end picture to give the couple a send off.
