It is my understanding that most people go to work and look forward to Friday at 5pm when they can leave and go home, or go to the pub etc… I am incredibly lucky to genuinely love what I do, and I can honestly say that for the most part I look forward to shooting every wedding; despite putting myself through 12-16 hour days, hauling heavy camera kit, shouting as hard as I can to organise drunken guests for group photos, lying in wet grass to get the perfect angle, and standing next to pounding loud speakers for some epic dance floor action. Job satisfaction comes in the form of many things, seeing people enjoying life to the absolute maximum, creating pictures that are not just atheistically pleasing but technically perfect, and of course couples that are utterly thrilled with what you do for them.
Having spent around 15 hours in the company of Brenda and Colin, with their amazing family and friends. Watching their warmth and openness (Colin met a couple earlier in the day for the first time and invited them to come to the reception, that’s how friendly and open) flow through their day was so special, and so magical, that at the end of the night when I took the last picture, I felt utterly sad that it had all come to an end and shed a tear. If asked I would say yes and live every minute of that day in a heartbeat. That’s got to be a whole load better than most peoples daily grind š
