If someone asked if having a wedding on new years eve was a good idea, a few years ago I would have said no. However now that I’ve had the pleasure of doing this a couple of times I can honestly say it makes one of the best dates to get married. The wedding in no way becomes eclipsed by any other celebrations, and your guests will know that they’re in it until the end of the night. What’s more, ask anyone about all of their new years celebrations and anyone that’s been to a wedding on that date will remember it. It’s special, and Hollie and Marc made it even more special by having it at Washingborough Hall.

When it comes to New Years Eve, you just can’t go until you’ve done Auld Langs Syne. And so on the chimes of Big Ben, a few tears trickling across my cheeks I watched another fabulous bunch of people looking forward to new beginnings. A truly special moment. Just in case you need it there’s a little helping hand at the bottom for the next time you’re at New Years Eve bash…

Now I’m sure I wont be the only one to say it but all I know in that famous Scottish song by Robert Burns is its title… So just ta help ye, if ye happ’n ta be goin toa na years weddin’ here’s the lines ta help ye sing along!

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and auld lang syne?

For auld lang syne, my jo,
for auld lang syne,
we’lltak’ a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.

And surely ye’ll be your pint-stoup!
and surely I’ll be mine!
And we’ll tak’ a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.

For auld lang syne, my jo,
for auld lang syne,
we’lltak’ a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.

We twa hae run about the braes,
and pou’d the gowans fine;
But we’ve wander’d mony a weary fit,
sin’ auld lang syne.
