Railways & Inspiration

Often my pre wedding photography sessions are at a location near to the couples home address; mostly for convenience, and they will often take place at a park or quiet country location. Jo and Paul had other ideas. Paul is a Graphic and web designer, so little wonder he wanted something with a little more interest. It was Jo’s father that provided the inspiration for the railway with his keen interest in steam engines.

As you’ll no doubt see in the pictures we were blessed with the most dazzling sunny morning on Remembrance Sunday. I arrived a little ahead of Jo and Paul and immediately started taking pictures of colour and texture. As luck would have it Jo’s Yellow jacket and red sweater picked up on the colours in the backdrop perfectly.

When you step outside of the normal locations of green trees and park benches, replacing it with bright colours and a contrasty hard landscape it makes you explore the boundaries a little more. I advise couples to think about a location for their pre wedding photography thats personal to them in some way so that their pictures will have more meaning. Quorn and Woodhouse Railway Station is a fantastic location, but there are many other terrific locations that you could consider. Some food for though on this could be things like old saw mills, derelict buildings, museums, sailing clubs, cricket or rugby clubs, riding stables etc. All it takes is a little imagination to make it personal to you.

As for whats next? There is a couple who’s wedding photography I’m doing in May next year who are both keen cyclists and I have a plan to involve the bikes but also to include some of my cinematography. Iv’e also got a booking in April to meet up with a couple getting married in June, I’m meeting them in Salcome, so if you’re thinking what you have in mind is too far then you may well be wrong!
