marquee wedding photography

I love marquee wedding photography. I’m a big fan of the film Four Weddings and a Funeral and a marquee wedding is typical of that very lovey dovey nature in all things from Richard Curtis. There’s a huge level of importance on having a heck of a party without the restrictions of a venue that closes at 12am! They mostly offer a unique and picturesque backdrop that can make your wedding photos truly spectacular and totally personal. Because of the ability to customize the space, a marquee provides an endless array of beautiful settings for capturing memorable moments. Whether you’re planning a classic, elegant affair or a more rustic, boho celebration, the versatility of a marquee ensures your wedding photography will be one-of-a-kind. Lets hear it for an English Country Wedding!

Natural Light & Atmosphere

One of the key elements of marquee wedding photography is the incredible play with natural light. Large clear-sided marquees, or even those with canvas roofs, allow sunlight to pour in, creating soft lighting that makes for stunning portraits. Golden hour/sunset light is perfect for outdoor pictures around venues, where the couple can be framed against a beautiful sunset or lush greenery.

Perfect Details

Marquees are all about creating a personalized environment, and whilst capturing the little details of your decor is not my priority, often part the photographic story of the day is friends and family helping out.  From the elegant table settings to the floral arrangements hanging overhead, there’s so much to photograph. It’s my job as a photographer to highlight these moments, incorporating them into wider shots of your guests mingling and enjoying the celebration.

Atmospheric Shots Inside the Marquee

I will always look to take advantage of the spaciousness and the charming ambiance. Shots of the first dance under fairy lights or speeches framed by vintage chandeliers can add a touch of magic to your finished set of images or wedding album. The key is to capture the warmth, joy, and intimacy that a marquee wedding brings.

Outdoor Opportunities

Don’t forget the outdoors! Marquees offer the perfect opportunity to shoot both inside and outside. Whether it’s candid moments with guests in the garden or intimate couple portraits at sunset, the variety of settings will give you a beautiful range of images to cherish forever.

With thoughtful planning and the right photographer, your marquee wedding will not only be a stunning event but a timeless memory captured in photos.
